Why Orbit
Local-first
Everything lives on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you activate a key or check for an update.
Encrypted at rest
Your database is encrypted with SQLCipher on desktop and the hardware Keystore on Android.
Reminders that fire
Native notifications fire even when the app is closed, with repeats and re-alerts until you are done.
Projects & ideas
Group todos by project or category, capture ideas, and attach images. Your whole workspace, organised.
Recurring & smart capture
Type "every weekday at 8am" and Orbit sets the schedule. Habits, streaks, and natural-language quick-add.
Windows, Linux & Android
One app across your devices. A backup file is portable between them - still no cloud, no accounts.
Activate once, then it is yours
Orbit keeps server pings to the bare minimum - only when you activate or ask for updates.
Activate once
Redeem a one-time code. Orbit binds it to your device and stores a signed token.
Then go offline
After that, Orbit verifies your licence offline forever. No check-ins, no accounts.
Update on your terms
Updates only happen when you open Settings and click Check for updates. No background pings.
Questions
Is my data private?
Yes. Orbit is local-first - your todos, projects, ideas, and reminders are stored only on your device and encrypted at rest. There is no cloud and no account.
Which platforms does Orbit run on?
Windows and Linux on desktop, and Android on mobile. A backup file is portable between them.
Does Orbit need an internet connection?
No. After a one-time activation, Orbit works fully offline. It only reaches the network when you activate a key or click Check for updates.
Where is my data stored?
On your own device, in an encrypted database (SQLCipher on desktop, the hardware Keystore on Android). You can export a backup file at any time.
